Backyard Harvest

About

Backyard Harvest believes that everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy produce, and we work throughout the Palouse and Lewis-Clark Valley to help make that possible. The core of our work is partnering with our community to connect those who have extra fresh produce with those who need it most. We harvest fruit from community members' bountiful backyard fruit trees and gather produce donations from local farmers and gardeners, and then deliver it all to food pantries, senior meals, youth programs, and emergency shelters.  In this way, we also reduce food waste!

We also provide gardening education and support to empower everyone to grow their own food, and we facilitate the use of EBT food stamps at local farmers markets to make it that much easier for our neighbors in need to access locally grown food.

Volunteers are essential to our organization's work, and we can always use more hands to help! Please visit our website at backyardharvest.org to view a full calendar of upcoming opportunities, which include gardening (Apr-Nov) and fruit picking (Jun-Nov) events; we can also use volunteer help to deliver the food, staff our market booth, and more! For more information or to join our volunteer mailing list, email gleaningcoordinator@backyardharvest.org or give us a call at (208) 669-2259.
